From our beginner educational sessions to our fundraising events to our weekly group training rides, teamCOPC is a team first, and nobody is alone on this team!
Better than we could alone...
The true core tenet of the Pelotonia community. Like birds flying through the air or bikes in formation on the road, we will always accomplish more as a group than we could individually.
We will END CANCER!
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, with support from Pelotonia, has already made many advances in prevention, early detection and cures. Pelotonia is successfully changing and saving lives!
Pelotonia is a grass-roots bike tour with ONE GOAL : END CANCER. 100 % of donations go to fund life-saving research at the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Since 2009, Pelotonia has raised over $208 million.
My Pelotonia 2020 - Not Just Cyclists
By now, you have seen the news regarding Pelotonia changes for this year. If you missed it, here is the announcement, and here is the FAQ page. As always, teamCOPC welcomes all who want to participate in Pelotonia to be a part of our team.
Since inception in 2009, Pelotonia has set the goals for participants, and it has been themed entirely around cycling and volunteerism. Like so much around us, Pelotonia will look different this year. My Pelotonia is the opportunity for our growing community to set its own goals, and it doesn’t have to be all about the bike or the PB&J. My Pelotonia is for anyone who wants to achieve a goal in the name of cancer research funding, even if the goal has nothing to do with cycling.
Of course, you can still ride a bike, let folks know it, and ask donors to support cancer research. But maybe bikes aren’t your thing. Maybe you want to walk or run a certain distance each week. Perhaps your aim is to swim across the English Channel in a month (or however far that is, anyway). It doesn’t even have to be an athletic venture. How about you hold a bake sale every month, or volunteer at 10 community events this summer? It all can work. You set your own goal around your own passion and link it to another passion of ending cancer, and we all win! The timing is about the COVID-19 pandemic, but the change is about growing the Pelotonia community broader and stronger, yet still with the same one goal of ending cancer.
As always, teamCOPC will be providing opportunities if your goals are cycling or volunteer-related.
While observing community health restrictions, we hope to host or facilitate (and need volunteers for):
Ride from Columbus to Cincinnati
Ride Around Columbus
Velvet Ice Cream Ride
Ride on Pelotonia Weekend
Ride of the original (more or less) Pelotonia Route to Athens
Weekly training rides, including our beginner ride series
Watch for details here and on the teamCOPC Facebook page.
So, think about your passion and your goal, and put it in writing. Announce to the world that you will achieve your goal in the name of My Pelotonia and ask for donations and support toward ending cancer. Then, the table will be set for an ever-growing Pelotonia community to achieve OUR ONE GOAL.
Who can join teamCOPC? ... Anyone!

A Note About COVID-19
We all are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and teamCOPC sympathizes with those most impacted. At the same time, we recognize that some missions must go forward, including our Pelotonia efforts to end cancer. Throughout our efforts, we will encourage safe community health practices as guided by the recommendations of local authorities. When those guidelines lack specificity or are otherwise unclear, we (including the leadership of teamCOPC) must each follow our own conscience and comfort level, at the same time respecting the decisions of others.
