teamCOPC is committed to the safe group riding concept, and will stay together, or form several smaller groups, never dropping any riders.
There will usually be a leader for each ride, but every smaller group may not have one, and it may not be possible to "sweep" the route every week.
Riders should commit to keeping their group together and not dropping riders.
Groups are asked to ride the advertised speed ranges.
There will possibly not be a rider leader in every group.
We expect all cyclists on our rides to watch out for each other.
With that, all riders should choose their speed group realistically, to be considerate of those desiring a certain pace.
Finally, please park cars away from the buildings to be courteous to the Market Square patrons while we ride.
Helmets are always required, and we obey the rules of the road.

Weekly Rides - mid-April through Pelotonia (Suspended during COVID-19 Pandemic)
teamCOPC hosts several training rides a week from mid-April until Pelotonia. We are focused on training riders for Pelotonia, but all are welcome to join. Please review the ride descriptions to join a ride suited to your abilities and training goals.
Scheduled rides will be listed here weekly, and spontaneous group rides will be posted on our Ride Group Announcements. In event of concerning weather, safety and common sense should dictate participation. Weather/Cancellation News will be posted at least an hour prior to the start times if indicated.
Wednesdays (thru June)(Suspended during COVID-19 Pandemic)
Beginner Group Ride - Beginners and Leaders Welcome
Start time: 6 pm
New Albany Philip Heit Center Patio (map)
150 W Main St., New Albany, 43054
We start with a discussion of group riding safety and techniques, then take a slow short ride. This is a 2 month course, with early season routes being very mild, progressing to some beginning hill climbing skills in June. Helmets required. Riders should arrive with properly maintained bicycle ready for the ride, as this is not a maintenance clinic. Although geared toward beginners, riders should be able to maintain a pace of at least 12 mph.
Please review the Rider Expectations.
Routes chosen depending on wind and attendance.
Expected Pace Groups (based on attendance):
10-12 mph, 12-14 mph, 14+ mph
Our beginner Group Ride series is always very popular. With the pandemic in the Spring of 2020, we were unable to lead this group as usual. With that, we created a few videos with the hope that we could still help riders be safer and more comfortable on the roads.
Thursdays (Suspended during COVID-19 Pandemic)
Thursday Night Hills - All Are Welcome
Start time: 6 pm
Jersey Baptist Church North Parking Lot (map)
13260 Morse Road SW, Pataskala, OH 43062
Thursday Night Hills has become a favorite of many riders. It begins flat to gently downhill, then it puts you to work. Riders will split up by expected average speeds, 14-15 ish, 16-ish, 17+. Each group then chooses their route distance. As always, choose your group sensibly to achieve your own goals and respect the goals of other riders. Groups will stay together, but it's still wise to bring a friend and review the routes ahead of time. There will typically be two rider leaders, but not enough to shepherd every group.
The ride leader or the group will choose from these routes, considering attendance and remaining sunlight:
